I had a birthday.  Nothing out of the ordinary.  It came.  I did my normal things.  It left.  Birthdays were so much fun as a child.  You had friends come over and shower you with presents.  You got a party with food, games, and everything else.  It was a celebration.  Why has that changed over the years?  Is an adult birthday any less of a celebration than a child’s birthday?  Either way, it’s supposed to celebrate the incredible event of birth.  Why does only the person born get a gift?  Why do we not give the mother of that child a gift?  She did some hard work too.  It’s a mystery. 

 I finished knitting my scarf.  I like it!!!  I got some Alpaca yarn in gray and made it really long – like 5 feet long.  While you can tell it’s homemade, I think it still looks nice.  And, it’s warm!  I wore it with my new coat – wool – to shovel snow and it was perfect.  I’m so happy.  The kids are putting in their orders for what they want knitted now.  Looks like I need to learn how to make more things!  I’m already trying to think about Christmas for next year.  I’d really like to get gifts made throughout the year which would require planning.  LOL  I have ideas for a few people so maybe I’ll get started on those.  I’ll have to get thinking/planning on that. 

OH!!!  We got the kitchen counter done and new sink in.  I LOVE it.  The new counter is black sponge painted with a light silver sponge painting on top.  I put a sealer on but I think I need to do it again.  There are a few spots that didn’t come out as well as I would like.  The new sink is in too.  it’s stainless and I am so happy with it.  The facet works.  I have 2 handles now so it’s much easier to control hot and cold water.  It’s just a bit smaller than the old sink but I still LOVE it.  I feel so much better about the kitchen now.  I feel like I can focus my attention on other projects now.  I still need to change the hardware on the cabinets but that can be done anytime.  The half bath is the next project.  I’m pulling out the sink and cabinet and putting in a new pedestal sink.  I need to do something with the floor but I’m not sure what yet.  We’ll see how that works.  I’ll do better this time about doing before and after pictures to post.  I’m bad about that.  Oh, well.  On to my day!!!
